“Should you use your due date or date of birth to calculate your lifepath?” I was asked this question by someone born by caesarean section (c-section). Here are my thoughts:
Always use your DOB in numerology, if possible. At the Universal level, there are no mistakes. No matter what your parents told you, you are not an accident. You were born on the right day, to the right people, at the right time for your planned evolution. You have a soul contract with your family/ies (I use the plural for people who are adopted etc).
Your Soul is much smarter than your mind – in fact, it’s much smarter than any human’s mind, including that of your Mum or Dad. When you chose your family, your Soul already knew if you were likely to be born with complications, or by natural or assisted methods. I should add that, just because you chose your family doesn’t mean you should put up with bad behaviour – it’s like going to a restaurant, you have rights!
Your birth was an introduction to your life purpose. Think of it as the opening scene of a grand show. Find your lifepath. For example, I only met my mother the day after I was born. The first time Mum saw me I was vigorously sucking my thumb! Like many babies at the time, I was fed formula, until my parents found out I was allergic to lactose. It wasn’t until the birth of my son, Forrest that I truly understood the reason for these events. Now I understand that they taught my parents and I compassion, intuition and patience.
Why is this relevant? Because I’ve spent this lifetime healing beliefs about loneliness and hunger – hence my journey from science into psychic readings, meditation, past life regression and history of eating issues. These experiences showed me that you can never be filled from the outside in, only from the inside out. This journey makes sense when you consider my 29/11 lifepath in numerology, the path of the Spiritual Messenger. Your entry to this world was also part of a Divine plan, even if you can’t see that yet.
Your DOB can help you to plan ahead. In numerology, your DOB reveals your ‘cosmic weather forecast’ via personal years, months and days. These can help you to make the most of opportunities. Basically, you repeat a theme every nine years.
When I started numerology, I calculated that I was born in a 1 Personal Year of New Beginnings, on an 11 Personal Day for my Mum and Dad. This seemed too weird to be a coincidence. I then realised that my mobile (picked by Mum when I was 14) added to 11, as did my Chinese name (minus the Anglicised Sarah). Argh! No wonder I kept seeing 11:11!
The Universe wanted me to embrace my multi-dimensional self, and to surrender the illusion that I was a victim of life, rather than an infinitely powerful creative being. 11:11 is associated with Starseeds, people who carry Master Numbers (11, 22 and 33), and those at spiritual turning points. It’s not just confined to people with 11 lifepaths.
Predictions work even when you don’t know your DOB. If you don’t know your date of birth, you can use other forms of self-analysis, such as palmistry, or Tarot cards, to help you with character analysis and forecasting. In numerology, it’s easy to calculate your personal year without knowing your birth year – you just need the day and month.
If there are two dates you could have been born on (e.g. 10th or 11th of January), you can compare both numerology charts to decide which lifepath. This process works, even if you were born at midnight. I’ve done it for clients in the past.
Caesarean sections and inductions don’t alter destiny (much). As most mothers will tell you, a baby comes when it’s ready, no matter what its due date. The book, Spirit Babies by Walter Makichen is a wonderful reference on this topic, and fertility in general.
Some people say that advanced or ambitious Souls can be quite eager to come in – in some cases, they may even arrive prematurely. Mothers can talk to their babies in the womb (I did) and ask them to stay in shorter or longer – the baby’s Soul will hear your prayers, but can’t always fulfil your request.
Like many people, I believe that due dates should be taken as a guide rather than gospel. Otherwise we stress mothers-to-be just when they need to conserve energy for birth.
The story of Forrest’s due date
Kris and I planned for Forrest to arrive around Kris’s birthday on 8th of February. That way, he’d be an Aquarian Monkey, like us. I wanted a set of three monkeys. After I announced my pregnancy (via stand up comedy!), a friend said ‘he’ll come on the 7th of February. Although Forrest was due on the 22nd (i.e. 22/2 – amusing considering I am a numerologist), I knew he’d be early. After all, this was a Spirit who had already told me to hurry up.
I had pre-labour cramping from early February, but still hadn’t finished my tax return by the 6th. My kinesiologist Carmen Low muscle-tested me and said that Forrest was waiting. So I pulled an all-nighter to get my accounting done, before baby brain hit. The fatigue must have slowed things down, because my Braxton Hicks contractions almost stopped. Forrest was eventually born on the 16th of February. If he’d been born on the 7th of February, he would have still been an 18/9 lifepath in numerology.
Did I change his destiny by delaying my tax return? Perhaps slightly, but I suspect he knew it was coming. I’ve always been slower than most people at letting go – no wonder I did turtle conservation in my 20’s. At a deep level, I must have known Forrest’s numerology, because not only was I planning a post on lifepath 9’s before he was born, I drew a picture of him. It had a musical symbol in the top right corner, which looks like a number 9.
A brief note on names. I believe that we influence our parents to give us a certain name, as part of our spiritual contract with them. Unlike our lifepath, we can change our names and aspects of our future. When I read for someone, I consider their birth name, adopted name (if applicable) and current legal name. Not all numerologists do this, as it’s a matter of which system you believe in.
Conclusion The reason I love doing and teaching numerology is that your date of birth never changes. The ex-scientist in me loves working with figures. Trust that your life is working out exactly as it needs to. When you take one step, the Universe takes two to meet you. This doesn’t mean sitting back and waiting to be spoon fed – it means getting out there, doing your best, and letting Spirit handle the rest! Thanks to Larissa for the question and to Leigh for the beautiful star sign in the photo with Forrest.
