So, the saga continues. My ex has moved on to a new person, who is someone we were both quite close to. They have been hanging out at all the same places I used to go with him. I was having a pity party with myself until I found out that his new favourite TV show is…WIFE SWAP! That’s right folks – TV really does give you some strange ideas. At that point I just started laughing, because I realised how precious life is and how much I just needed to let it all go… (Post updated 6 Aug 2026 – FYI this post was originally written about someone I dated in 2011, since then I’ve moved on and had 3 lovely kids.)
Have you ever heard of Voltaire’s wonderful quote, ‘God is a comedian playing to an audience too afraid to laugh?’ Do you laugh when you are stressed? Do you bring out the dad jokes when you’ve had a drink or two?
Well you probably have a loop of humour in palmistry – it’s a U shaped loop in the skin between your Mercury (pinky) and Apollo (ring) fingers. See image below. The bigger the loop, the more likely you are to laugh at a funeral! (I’ve had this verified by many clients – I have them in both hands).
People with a loop of humour:
-love practical jokes. I used to read joke books as a kid and collect funny memes and quotes. If you have one of these markings, most of your close friends will have this formation too. If you don’t have one, don’t fret, you probably just have a more sophisticated sense of humour than the rest of us! FYI, I’ve studied and performed beginner stand up comedy.
-have more desire to control their working life e.g. through owning a business, being self-employed and/ or retiring early…it’s important that they choose a career based on passion or they tend to burn out.
-are good at working with the young and old, as they have a fresh perspective on life and death that makes them great company. They can always see the bright side to every dilemma.
-value the people around them, often more than money or status. They want to bring light to the world.
