Just finished reading at the Ekka in Brisbane for the first time! For non-Brisbanites, the Ekka is a huge family show with rollercoasters, showbags and farm animals held every year.
I worked at The Reading Room Stall all week and it was quite a change from the usual expos I do. Less hippies and more cowboys. There were people chowing down hot beef and gravy rolls instead of veggie burgers and salad.
I came home smelling a bit like hay because we were next to the Horse Pavilion. I love horses, especially Percherons. The smell of manure brought back memories of high school fitness classes where we had to leap over giant steaming cow pats in the morning (we had a farm).
Palmistry Alert – Saw lots of animal affinity loops in the hands I read – these are a small, teardrop shaped formation in the skin, under the Apollo (ring) finger, which indicate a natural ability to handle animals. The people were all breeders, showriders and pet-lovers, as you would expect!
